Amazing facility, ownership was key in helping myself sign up 8 kids at the same time. They helped and worked with all of the parents and myself to make it all work. Would recommend this place to beginners and veterans alike. Facility was always very clean and organized, as well as welcoming to anyone who wanted to watch their kids train.

My Granddaughter Sonora takes Jiu Jitsu instruction in Broken Arrow Ok. She is in the process of preparing for a tournament there. She was visiting us here and her father didn't want to her to miss out on training for that long. He asked someone in Oklahoma if they might recommend anyone in the WF area. The told him Dynamic Martial Arts in Wichita Falls My son contacted them and Coach Roger told him that they would be more than happy for her to come visit. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learned some different things. A special thanks to Coach Roger and staff !! And by the way, they have some really nice shirts there!!

I attended adult classes at CMJJ from September 2021 to late April 2022, and it was one of the most welcome gym environments I’ve ever experienced. As soon as I set foot in the door I was treated with respect and kindness. I had never practiced any martial arts before, but the coaches were able to explain everything to me in a way that was easy to grasp. While I was intimidated by the class at first, the instructors and the other students were quick to encourage me to keep trying and stick with it. All the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and super kind. They are willing to work with you one on one and will not get frustrated if you mess up. I ended up having to leave the gym because of scheduling conflicts, but I hope to go back someday because I felt very welcome there.

This will be a long review, but I think the details matter. If you want the short version, I gave it 5 stars. I am in my 30s and have never done anything in the realm of combat sport. I have always wanted to practice some sort of martial art, but never made it a priority until this last February. I have a friend that practiced combat sports for years in a few different forms, and last practiced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a blue belt. So when I decided I wanted to start practicing a martial art, I sought his opinion. He was convinced that the best kind was BJJ, so I decided to give it a try. He warned me about joining a gym because some gyms beat new people up. He said it was not true of every BJJ gym but was certainly a possibility. I asked him how to avoid that, and he just said let me call the gym you are looking to attend. About 20 minutes later, he called me back and said, “You’re good. Go sign up.” I was instantly taken with BJJ and wanted to know everything about it. But this isn’t a testimonial for BJJ, it’s for the gym in Wichita Falls. Here is what really struck me as a new practitioner of BJJ. The gym is clean. Sparkling even. Every night after class, the floors are vacuumed, mats blown off, sanitized with spray cleaner, and wiped clean. People are explicitly instructed to keep their shoes off the mats, bare feet only. In the rare instance that someone does wear shoes on the mat, the staff and students are quick to inform them that shoes are not to be worn on the mat. The people were super friendly and inclusive of a newb. They welcomed me with open arms, and used them to choke me out. (That’s a BJJ joke.) All kidding aside, BJJ is a very effective form of martial arts and people can/do get hurt practicing it. When I asked the gym owner, Roger, about this he responded, “If we break our toys, we won’t be able to play.” This sentiment trickles down to everyone who practices at the gym. Everyone strives to keep each other safe. People are encouraged to communicate with their partners if they are favoring a hip, elbow, etc. It has been my experience that people at this gym really do pay attention when I mention an injury and seek to keep me safe. Next, the coaching staff is helpful in so many ways. The first night I joined, Coaches Roger and Jeremiah gave me their cell numbers and encouraged me to contact them with any questions. Any time I have reached out, they have been quick to respond. The instruction in class is broken down into small pieces that anyone can follow. During class, the coaches walk around the mats watching students and making adjustments as they see fit. They are always responsive to questions. Nobody is afraid to ask a question. When there is an injury, (usually a pulled muscle, cramp, sprain, etc.) both coaches know what to do. They will tell you if you need to tape it and keep practicing, rest for a few nights, or see a doctor. Many times the student doesn’t want to hear that they need to take a week or two off, but coaches, truly looking out for the well-being of their students, take the time to try to reason with the injured student. Another thing that I noticed was that women practice at this gym. As an adult male, I feel that if they are comfortable practicing at this gym, I should be too. Lastly, being an educator, I understand lesson design, scope and sequence, and meeting the needs of diverse learning levels. The Machado method offers a scope and sequence that helps the coaches build everyone up. The units that they teach build on one another to create a broad understanding of BJJ. Learning BJJ is an immersive process much like learning a language. Knowing this, the coaches don’t just teach you a bunch of “moves.” They teach how to move in a new way. These specific things are evidence for the culture of the Dynamic Martial Arts Gym. They do the little things right. If they don’t know something, they figure it out. Ultimately, this leads to a culture of relentless improvement.
